What the MP2 dividend history tells you

Pag-IBIG declares the MP2 dividend rate once a year, usually in February or March, covering the previous calendar year's earnings. The rate is not fixed or guaranteed in advance — it is set from at least 70% of the Fund's actual net income for that year, which is why it moves with interest rates and the Fund's housing-loan and investment performance.

Two eras stand out. From 2010 to 2015 the programme paid between 4.58% and 5.50%. From 2016 onward, as the Fund's income grew, MP2 has paid above 6% every year except none — and above 7% in seven of the last ten declarations. That consistency is the reason MP2 became a default savings vehicle for Filipinos who want bank-beating returns without market risk.

MP2 dividends are tax-free and the principal is guaranteed by the national government, so the historical record is a fair guide to what to expect — but past declarations are not a promise of future rates. A conservative plan assumes something closer to the long-run average than to the most recent year.

  • Sixteen-year average: 6.25% · last five years: 6.86%.
  • Highest declaration: 8.11% (2017). Lowest: 4.58% (2013).
  • Rates are declared for the earning year and credited the following year — the 7.12% figure is for 2025 earnings, announced in 2026.
  • Dividends are prorated for savings made mid-year, so a December remittance earns roughly one month of that year's dividend.
  • Choosing annual payout instead of compounding lowers your maturity value, because dividends no longer earn dividends.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the latest Pag-IBIG MP2 dividend rate?

Pag-IBIG declared 7.12% for 2025 earnings, announced in February 2026. That is the highest total payout in the Fund's history and slightly above the 7.10% declared for 2024.

What is the average MP2 dividend rate?

Across the sixteen declarations from 2010 to 2025 the average is 6.25%. Over the last five years the average is 6.86%, reflecting the Fund's stronger recent income.

Is the MP2 dividend rate guaranteed?

No. The rate is declared each year from at least 70% of Pag-IBIG's net income, so it varies. What is guaranteed by the national government is your principal — you cannot lose the money you put in.

Are MP2 dividends taxed?

No. MP2 dividends are completely tax-free, which makes the headline rate directly comparable to a bank's after-tax yield rather than its gross rate.

When is the MP2 dividend credited to my account?

Dividends for the previous year are credited after the annual declaration, typically within weeks of the February or March announcement, and appear in your Virtual Pag-IBIG account.

Should I choose annual dividend payout or compounding?

Compounding produces a materially larger maturity value because each year's dividend earns dividends too. Choose annual payout only if you need the income now.
